Opening to Reiki

Welcome back! I’m so grateful to continue sharing my love of Reiki and the ways it’s enhanced my life with you. As discussed in our previous post, Reiki is an ancient healing practice that transfers universal life force energy from the practitioner to the receiver. One of the main reasons I find Reiki so beneficial is that, as a receiver of this healing practice, it allows me the space to get out of my own way and let the all-loving power of the Universe work its restorative magic. It is restorative because, as “intelligent” energy, it flows where it is needed in order to align with the healing we are seeking. Whether it be physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual, Reiki will provide the most authentic path towards true alignment and wholeness. It may seem counterintuitive to trust something intangible to be effective in healing our systems especially when we’re so used to doctors/specialists providing treatment. However, we can take inspiration from nature herself who moves towards alignment through the rhythm of the seasons. We don’t ask how nature works, she just does! The same goes for Reiki. This practice allows me to be more fully aware of my own natural rhythm and my ability to flow with it.

By enhancing my awareness of my own rhythm through my connection to Reiki, I’m also reminded that I am connected to much more than this world leads us to believe. A lot of work needed to be done to find myself in the right space to understand how Reiki could help me. Considering my upbringing as a devout Catholic, there were more than a few spiritual concepts that had to marinate in my mind, body, and soul in order to unlearn what has been programmed in my psyche. Letting go and expanding my views of religion and spirituality relieved so much guilt and actually provided a great framework through which to navigate my new spiritual reality. I allow myself to use terms interchangeably such as God/Universe and spirit/energy in order to bridge the gap between all the different spiritual modalities of the world. This makes it so I can remove the restrictions language and semantics can place in order to allow any necessary learning, and ultimately healing, to occur.

The pressure to conform to society’s high standards restricts our natural rhythm and creates barriers from our connection to the very essence of our source through which all life flows. This world has us convinced that we are not as powerful as we are with the capabilities we have within. There is so much that is out of our control and, as ego-driven as we are, this is one of the hardest lessons to learn. Reiki is the reminder I need in order to gently remove these barriers and start tapping into my own source where alignment towards my highest self begins.

I’d love to hear the ways you remove barriers to your own source, so please share below! Make sure to stay tuned as we conclude this journey to learn how Reiki can help you further connect and tap into your own natural flow.
